Hometown Love

Sweater-UO
Lace Shorts-Bar III via Macy's
Faux Leather Jacket & Flats-Target

So if you can't tell by the massive photo overload, I was having such an amazing time hanging out on the windy, chilly rocks by the bay and walking along the still frosty, wooden trail in my hometown over Christmas vacation. Days that look this gorgeous and sunny in the winter are very far and few between in the Pacific Northwest, especially along the coast.

My hometown is a little place 20 mins from the Pacific Ocean, about two hours from Seattle, where I now live. Growing up I despised living there, especially in High School...but as I get older, I can see why people call that little ol' town home (although I couldn't see myself living there ever again) and can appreciate all the beauty that it is, especially on glorious days like those photoed above.

Ohhh and about the outfit....I am totally loving all the textures going on here. What is better than loosely sewn comfy cable knit, faux leather and lace all paired together?! Not much, I tell ya! From the moment I purchased that berry colored sweater, I can't seem to get enough of it. Pairing it with skirts, flares...everything. Love love love.

Hope you all had a wonderful week and are getting ready to ring in the New Year!
3-day weekend for me babies!

Wishful Wednesday

1. 2. 3.

I can't really seem to get enough of this color lately. I am pretty obsessed with it.
I now have some extra Christmas cash laying around, so who knows, maybe one of these frocks will call my little closet home in the near future?

Hope everyone had a amazing Holiday! I know I did! Today is the last day of my vacation and then back to the grind....for two days....and then a 3 day weekend....wooooo! :)

What are you wishing for this week?

It's Christmas Time in the City....

Merry Christmas all you wonderful people!!
Hope your day is filled with everything nice :)

I took these photos last weekend when Tim and I went into the city (Seattle) to check out all the pretty Christmas lights and festivities. There was a pretty impressive Gingerbread Village we checked out that made the entire room smell of sugary sweet candies. It was awesome.

P.S. Can you see the reflection of Tim and I in the huge, silver ornament? hehe

Enjoy your holiday!

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Need another treat to make for the holidays?
Try these little babes out..... so delish, rich, and super easy to make.

recipe via lifeandkitchen

Sorry for the lack of step by step photos, but the end product is pretty enough, so I figured you guys wouldn't mind much :)

The only con about the above recipe is that it says it will make 48, 1-inch balls, I only ended up with 23.  Not sure how that happened, but either way...these puppies are so rich you probably don't need 48 of these laying around, unless you plan to have a lot of people to help you devour them.

I am thoroughly enjoying my time off from work, so nice to be back at my parents house hanging with the whole fam. for the holidays! Yay!

Hope you are enjoying all that is this magical season!

Wishful Wednesday

1. 2. 3.
4. 5. 6.

Big and chunky rings are what I am wishing for this week!
The kind that clang and bang on everything you touch, but are super cool and pretty none-the-less.

I am definitely going to have to pick a few of these gems up once I get my little fingers on some Christmas cash....

What are you wishing for this week?

p.s. Today is my last day of work for A WHOLE WEEK. Omg, can't wait to sleep and eat way too much and spend some much needed time with the hubs and family :)

Deer & Sequins!

I am finally able to cross an item off one of my Wishful Wednesday posts, an article of clothing featuring the ever adorable deer! Upon spotting this item on sale, I literally sprinted towards it, pushing everything and everyone out of my path. Well, not really, but it adds to the excitement....so lets just all pretend that actually happened.

Scarf & Sweater-21
Thrifted Sequin Dress
Leggings-Target
Boots-Payless

I originally wanted to remix this  thrifted sequin dress I wore last year to the Nutcracker, for Everbody Everywear's Sequins+Sparkles challenge, but unfortunately I missed their deadline by like 4 days...opppps.

So I went ahead with my idea anyway and wore the dress as a skirt and paired it with my sweet little deer sweater. I felt super festive today, wearing this while doing a little Christmas shopping :)

In other news, I got a sweet promotion at work last week! Yay!!

I also got my hair cut yesterday. I finally bit the bullet and chopped the bottom layer off, it needed to happen ever since I started growing it out. I was waiting till the first layer got a little longer so I wasn't stuck with a bob. You guys can't tell though obviously, because my hair is up...haha.

Lastly, I am sooo looking forward to having a nice chunk of time off of work in a few days for Christmas! yay!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and is looking forward to the Holidays!

Wishful Wednesday

Every few months I start dreaming about shoes of all sorts and kinds.
These are the ones that I am currently eyein'....

A random assortment, but lovely none-the-less. I love all the different textures, patterns, colors and especially the fold-over detail on the moccasin boot...soooo nice.

Hope you are all having a good week, it's Wednesday...only two more day till the weekend.
Score!

'Tis the Season

Since I think Christmas time is the best time of the year by far.......
...thought I would share some of my favorite things from around our little home :)

See how tiny our tree is? We had to get a mini tree this year since we bought a few new pieces of furniture a few months ago. Once we started decorating our place, we realized our normal sized tree sadly wouldn't work in our little apartment anymore. But it was kind of fun getting a mini tree, mini tree skirt and a mini little star to put on top......and a lot easier and quicker to put up haha
Since the baby tree has a lot less room for all our ornaments, we just put up our favs this year and the ones that are most special to us.

Also, if you haven't tried Trader Joe's, Candy Cane Joe-Joe's, I highly suggest you go buy a box. Seriously.so.good.
AND addictive, so proceed with caution...

This has been such an enjoyable and lazy Sunday,
I have had Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby's holiday tunes on heavy rotation all day, as well as Michael Buble' and the ever amazing, A Very She & Him Christmas album.

.....Right now I am watching Home Alone. <3. Classic 90's, the best!

Hope you are all getting in the Holiday spirit and aren't being tooo grinchy!

p.s. Yes, that is my very sweet and cute kitty in a santa hat and scarf. Don't judge :)

Wishful Wednesday

Gloves & Mittens, please!

1. 2.  3.  4.

Lately, my hands have been turning into literal ice cubes. Especially in the mornings on my way to work when the steering wheel of my car is still freezing. Brrrrrrr.

I did find some random, not cute, plain black gloves in my car the other day. They do the job, but these amazingly adorable and swoon-worthy gloves and mittens definitely put my $2 black ones to shame.

What's on your legs?

Cardigan-Thrifted Gap, Dress-Romy, Tights-H&M,
Over the Knee Socks-Target, Belt-UO, Bike Necklace-F21, Boots-Payless

If you read the P.S. section on my last Wishful Wednesday post, I said I would give you the details on the not-so-nice comment I got on these exact tights. So here it is:

Grandma: "What's on your legs?!?!" Me: "Tights.." Grandma: "Ewwww, what color are those?!".
Me: "Mustard Yellow." Grandma: "Those are UGLY!!!!!"
Me: "hahahahaha, they make tights/nylons in all different colors now... not just black, brown, navy and white..."

I knew it was only a matter of time till I heard something about these tights.....Oh Grams, I love you. haha :)

Also, that gray wool thrifted Gap cardigan is possibly the best item I have ever purchased while thrifting. I got it last year, but just recently started falling more in love with it. It is sooo cozy and warm that I don't even have to do much layering....$10 well spent.

P.S. I am a total copy cat and loved the above dress so much that I bought it even though my sister has the same one. Oppppps...sorry Brenna :p

Wishful Wednesday

Fleece Lined Tights!!!

I know this isn't the most visually appealing Wishful Wednesday post, but oh. my. gosh. the idea of warm and fuzzy tights gives me a cozy feeling just thinking about them! After reading a few reviews, it doesn't appear they add any bulk, which was one of my main concerns after hearing about these dreamy  tights. I do wish I could find more color options, so if you know of any more places that sell them in a variety of colors, let me in on it please :)

Also, the Thanksgiving weekend totally threw me off of my regular posting schedule (if I ever really had one). All I wanted to do was eat, hang with family, sleep and repeat. It was great.
Here's to the Christmas season YAY!!! Best time of the year, hands down.

P.S. I finally received a not-so-nice comment (in person) on my mustard yellow tights. I figured it was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people just can't handle so much amazing color on legs. Stay tuned for my next outfit post where I will share the details. It's funny...really...

Wishful Wednesday

This week I am wishing for everything and anything having to do with deer.
I have mentioned many times how I love anything animal, and these are no exception....

Maybe it's the upcoming holiday season, but I can't get enough of these guys and how cute would it be to decorate with those little adorable figurines?!

I am kicking myself in the booty for not getting a sweater at F21 a few weeks ago that I was eyeing and contemplating. It was gray and had a black deer on it, similar to the green sweater, but on a smaller scale.
Now I can't find it anywhere online...booo me.

What are you wishing for this week?

Favorite Fall Foods: Pumpkin Coconut Bread

Need some Thanksgiving food inspiration?
This Pumpkin Coconut bread is so yum and so simple.

What you need:

1 can pumpkin pie mix (Good stuff. Just pure pumpkin puree + spices)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup light coconut milk
1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 unsweetened coconut flakes

Steps:

1.In a large bowl, mix together pumpkin, brown sugar, oil and coconut milk.

2. In another box mix together flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, baking soda and salt.

3.  Whisk wet and dry ingredients together.

4. Stir in the coconut flakes.

5. Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.

6. Pop in a pre-heated, 350 degree oven for about an hour, depending on your oven (check after 45 mins). You will know it's done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Let cool in pan for 5-10 mins.

8. Slice and serve while still warm.

9. Watch your friends/family be delighted with a mouth full of moist deliciousness.

P.S. While baking, this smells better than any pumpkin scented candle known to man.

Hope you enjoy!

You two are the kindest, most thoughtful and funnest people to be around and we love you!
Hope you two have a great day!

(P.S. I am a horrible sister and couldn't find any current photos on my computer of them. So I took this amazingly great photo from here.)

Foxy Faux

So, I finally found the perfect faux leather jacket I had been searching for (hence the title).
It fits like a dream and is actually quite toasty...which came in handy in the chilly weather today.
Tim and I went for a walk around a near by park since it was such a fabulously beautiful fall day....

....Zipperssssss....

Jacket & Tights-Target
Scarf, Skirt, Sweater you can't see & booties-F21

After the park, we warmed up by taking advantage of this buy one get one free deal at Starbucks.
So happy that holiday drinks are back. Yum.

Also, while at Trader Joes today, after standing in line for a few minutes tooooo long...I ended up telling the cashier that, "kids are weird!".
When I get annoyed I usually end up being too honest. Opppps.

Here's what happened:
There was a lady and her kid in front of me in line; he was busy boppin' around hitting his advent calendar on everything in sight and getting a little too comfy in my space bubble.
While it was his mom's turn to check out, he proceeded to stick his head up the back of his mom's tightly fitting, long coat. His head was basically planted in her butt.
When she starting walking away, he starting yelling (more like screaming, but it was muffled by her butt and coat) "AHHHH Mom, I'm stuck....Owwwww...owwwww..STOP...STOP!!!"

The cashier laughed upon me saying that and then turned very red. It was awkward.
:)

Hope you guys are having a great weekend!
